our service provision

Cascade Care is a specialist provider of high quality mental healthcare for service users with challenging mental health needs, many of whom are received on step down from secure hospitals or prison. We operate 11 residential Homes in London and Essex, including two female units, and Supported Living units in North London (See ‘Our Homes’ for locations).

The wellbeing of the service user is at the centre of everything we do at Cascade. By espousing this person-centred approach we are able to attend to each individual’s needs and interests, and nuture their recovery in a caring, therapeutic environment.

The Care Packages we offer
Cascade offers three different types of care package to suit the needs of individual service users:

Medium Term Rehabilitation and Recovery
For service users in need of longer periods of residential rehabilitation and recovery on step down from secure hospital or prison. The average stay for these service users is 12-18 months before they are deemed ready for move-on.

Short Stay Respite Care
This is a preventive care package designed for service users from the community who may be in danger of relapse, and who will benefit from a period of stability in a structured residential care environment. This care package is available for up to 6 months.

Short Term Rehabilitation and Adjustment
Provision of a short term period of residential rehabilitation and adjustment for more able service users on step down from secure hospital or prison in preparation for move-on. This care package is available for up to 6 months.

Focus on Rehabilitation and Move-On
All service users set out of their recovery pathway from Day 1 of residency. The focus throughout is on effective risk management and on developing each service user’s self reliance, their life and employability skills. The thoroughness of Cascade’s rehabilitative and therapeutic approach results in a 70% non re-offending rate once move-on has been achieved.

Cascade maintains contact with all service users during the critical 3 month period after move-on to support the transition from residing in our Homes to living in either supported or wholly independent accommodation. Staff stay in daily contact with the service user during the first week after move-on and weekly thereafter throughout the 3 month settling-in period.

Progress Reports and Communication with Referrers
At all times, Cascade maintains close contact with each service user’s multi disciplinary team. We provide monthly reports on all service users (fortnightly for new admissions) monitoring progress and measuring outcomes against the requirements of the Care Plan, as well as identifying any areas where additional or alternative remedial treatments may be required.

We maintain an open-door policy at all our Homes for visits by mental healthcare practitioners, Social Workers, Probation Officers, Family Members and Friends.
